Spring through fall is the working season. Ground conditions matter more than the calendar though — saturated or frozen ground can't be compacted properly, so we schedule around weather rather than forcing a date.
Do I need a permit for a patio or deck?
Ground-level patios often don't, but decks, structures and anything affecting drainage or setbacks usually do — and requirements vary by town across Nassau and Suffolk. We check your municipality's rules during the estimate.
Pavers or poured concrete?
Pavers flex with ground movement instead of cracking, and individual units can be lifted and reset if a section ever settles. Poured concrete costs less initially but cracks are permanent. For Long Island's freeze-thaw cycles we usually recommend pavers.
How do you keep water away from the house?
Every hard surface we build is pitched away from the foundation, and we add drainage where the grade doesn't cooperate. A patio that drains toward your house is worse than no patio at all.
